Safety isn’t just a priority—it’s our business

At Magmedix, safety is more than a priority—it is the foundation of everything we do. Our commitment to MRI safety begins every workday and extends throughout every stage of our operations. All products entering our warehouse are thoroughly inspected and verified for safety, then re-checked prior to shipment. Products that are drop-shipped directly from our manufacturers are routinely brought in for random testing to confirm ongoing compliance. We work closely with our manufacturing partners to ensure proper classification, labeling, and adherence to current MRI safety standards.

MRI Safety Standards & ASTM Compliance

The ASTM Standard Practice for Marking Medical Devices for Safety in the Magnetic Resonance Environment (ASTM F2503) establishes a clear, standardized system for identifying MRI safety status. This practice was developed to eliminate confusion surrounding earlier terminology such as MR Safe and MR Compatible, which were often misunderstood or incorrectly applied across different MRI environments.

MRI environments vary by magnetic field strength, RF conditions, and system configuration. The ASTM F2503 standard provides a consistent and easily recognizable labeling system to help healthcare professionals make informed safety decisions.

MRI Safety Designations

MR Safe - an item that pose no known hazards in all MR environments.

MR Conditional - an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. Field conditions that define the specified MR environment include field strength, spatial gradient, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR.) Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item, may be required.

MR Unsafe - an item that are known to pose hazards in all MR environments and must not enter high magnetic field areas.

Products bearing the CE Mark

comply with essential European health, safety, and environmental protection requirements.

Ongoing Evaluation & Updates

Products not currently marked with an MRI safety designation were tested under previous evaluation methods and are undergoing reclassification in accordance with the latest ASTM standards. Safety designations are updated continually as testing and verification are completed.

At Magmedix, we remain committed to delivering accurately tested, clearly labeled, and MRI equipment you can trust—because safety is our business.
