Normal MRI Picture / MRI Picture w/Ferrous Hair Clip
|
The FerrAlert Halo System consists of FerrAlert Halo PreScreen
and FerrAlert Halo Entry to supplement current screening procedures.
This combination ensures the most comprehensive way to reduce
the risk of injuries, mortality, quenches, and damage to the
magnet. Each part of the System (PreScreen or Entry) can be purchased
separately.

FERRALERT Prescreen |

Mounting Option
|
The FerrAlert Halo PreScreen is set to a very high sensitivity
to detect objects as small as a hairpin. This unit is typically
placed in a dressing room or the interview/screening area. It requires
no breach of the patient or staff intimate personal space. If an
object is detected the operator will be Alerted by a visual and
audio alarm.
Unlike other types of detectors, FerrAlert Halo PreScreen emits
no electromagnetic radiation to detect objects. Titanium. plastic,
wood, copper, aluminum and all other non-magnetic materials not
attracted to the magnet will be ignored.
When the GREEN HALO array of READY indicator lights located in
the vertical columns of the portal are illuminated (ON), the system
is ready for detection of ferromagnetic objects.
With the GREEN READY indicator lights ON, pass thru the portal.
If a ferromagnetic object is detected, an AUDIO ALARM will sound,
The GREEN READY HALO indicators lights will extinguish and the
AMBER LOCATION indicator lights will illuminate.
The location of the ferromagnetic object in the Sensor Portal
is indicated by the illumination of the group of 4 or more amber
LED's closest to the ferrous object. For example as shown in the
picture to the left, if the second from the top, left and right
groups of LED's (amber) are activated, the ferromagnetic object
is near the center of the portal at head level. If multiple groups
of amber LED's are illuminated, a number of sensors have been activated.

FERRALERT Entry |
The FerrAlert Halo Entry is used to detect items as small as
a pocket knife that may be brought into the scanning room.
Like the FerrAlert Halo Prescreen the FerrAlert Halo Entry emits
no electromagnetic radiation to detect objects. Titanium. plastic,
wood, copper, aluminum and all other non-magnetic materials not
attracted to the magnet will be ignored.
When the GREEN HALO array of READY indicators lights located in
the vertical colums of the protal are illuminated (ON), the system
is ready for detection of ferrous objects.
With the GREEN READY indicator lights ON, pass thru the portal.
If a ferromagnetic object is detected, an AUDIO ALARM will sound
(at the portal and operator's display module), The GREEN READY
HALO indicators lights will extinguish and the AMBER LOCATION indicator
lights will illuminate.
The NIGHT ALARM switch should be turned ON when there are no MR
personnel present. |

REDUCES
THE RISK OF INJURIES AND DEATH
Although existing safety recommendations
to prevent accidents are comprehensive, human error still occurs,
resulting in injuries or even death to patients, staff and visitors.
With increasing magnet field strength and steeper field gradients,
the risks are increasing
PREVENTS QUENCHES
AND RAMP DOWNS
Quenches can cost up to $500,000 in service and repair
cost per occurrence. Lost income during magnet downtime can result in additional $
200,000
REDUCES OPERATING COSTS
FERRALERT™ yields
a rapid return on investment and pays for itself by prevention
of damage to a magnet as well as support equipment. Imaging
downtime can cost $ 1,200 to $ 3,000 an
hour. The lost imaging time to remove a missed cell phone,
for example, from a magnet or to remove a patient because of
a missed ferrous object can add up over time and easily pay for
FERRALERT™
TARGETS ONLY FERROUS OBJECTS
Unlike conventional metal detectors which
detect many different metals, FERRALERT™ alarms ONLY upon
detection of ferromagnetic metals, and helps to pinpoint the location of
an object.
